I was hospitalised, ermm no, I was scheduled for surgery last Monday, thus the lack of update on this blog.
It's not a major surgery, although I was zonked out for like 50 minutes before the anasthetic effect wore off. Well, it's true they when say, the moment the patients are awake, they'll try to remove the oxygen tube from their mouth. That's what I tried to do when I was awake. They really shove that tube deep in the throat. However, my right hand was still weak, thus I didn't quite manage to take that tube out. :). My left hand was totally immobile as there was this huge bandage underarm.
I had a surgery to remove a cyst underarm. In medical term, it's called left axillary swelling. Arrghh, medical jargons. Totally cannot understand them. Got the lab report on Friday on the findings of cysts (there was 2 cyst) and all the medical terms totally cannot process into a normal human being mind.
Read this:
Foci of haemorrhage and suppuration are noted along the cyst wall fragments lined by keratinized squamos epithelium. Even with my 9 years of watching CSI, lost counts of ER episodes, I cannot fully understand the whole sentence. I know haemorrhage (bleeding) and epithelium (skin tissue). But the next sentence I could understand it well and it was a relief. No granulomas or evidence to suggest malignancy is seen. Meaning no cancer!! (Of course my surgeon explained it all to me during my visit.)
So now I had this ugly train tracks under my left arm. The sutures can only be removed next Wednesday and so I had to change the dressing daily myself. Imagine taking out the surgical tape from the underarm side (ahem, armpit la), you know being tape, it's so sticky and every time I change the dressing, it's like having a wax stripping session!! But unfortunately this stripping session does not removed the underarm hairs at all. Yikes!! So, I'm going to show my hairy underarm to my surgeon next week when he removes the sutures. Haahhaa..
On the other hand, my sister said I don't need to shave of the scar anymore as scars will not have hair follicle. True? That will save lots of hassle.
Till next Wednesday, me and my train-tracked, hairy armpit bid you adieu.
